The federal government, in its 4.4 trillion annual budget for 2016-17, has allocated Rs.Rs.800 billion for development projects, Samaa reported Friday.

 Here are key points of the budget that will be formally unveiled by Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in National Assembly session today at 5pm.

Key points:
The Rs.800 billion developmental fund includes Rs.143 billion foreign aid. Ninety seven per cent of the fund is earmarked for ongoing projects 3% for new schemes.
Rs.410 billion have been earmarked for energy projects, Rs.260 billion for transport and communication projects (Rs.188 billion for construction of national highways), Rs.41 billion for Railways, Rs.31 billion for Civil Aviation.
The government has allocated Rs.100 billion for return, rehabilitation and security of TDPs, Rs.9.5 billion for 13 development projects for the Gwadar Port, Rs.1.8 billion for six railway projects of CPEC and Rs.1 billion for Green Pakistan Project.
For uplift projects in FATA and Azad Kashmir, the federal government has earmarked Rs.42 billion.
 

Rs.22 billion have been allocated for establishment of new universities under Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Balochistan, FATA, Gilgit, Hyderabad, Rahim Yar Khan and some KPK districts.
For construction of 100 small dams in Balochistan, the federal government has allocated Rs.20 billion.
The government has allocated Rs.20 billion for especial uplift projects and a similar amount for Prime Minister’s Youth and Skill Development Program.
Rs.25 billion have been assigned for especial Gas Infrastructure Development Fund. – Samaa
